Childrens’ Day
At 2:00 p.m. on 14th November, the school celebrated Children's Day. India's first Prime Minister after becoming independent, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday is celebrated on that day, because he was very fond of children.
School Principal Ms. Manimegalai welcomed the gatherings. The school correspondent gave an introductory speech and the Tamil teacher Mr. Mahapartheepan and the English Teacher Mr. Manigandan gave special speeches in their respective subject languages. Students participated in Rhymes competitions, Tamil and English speech competitions and quiz competitions.
Special Guest Mr. Roger Maybank, a writer from Canada who participated in the function said, “How, seeing the children as I did today at this celebration, could anyone not love them? And be delighted by their laughter, and serious attention to those who made short speeches (in Tamil and English) which they had prepared, and delivered with verve and astonishing self-possession. I felt honoured to be among them, and treated as if I were 'someone'; when indeed I am only (as Gandhi once—but in his case quite mistakenly—described himself) 'a stray individual.' My thanks to the whole school for allowing me to be part of their celebration."
Mr Maybank gave the prizes to the winners in the competition. Then sweets were distributed in the classes since it was raining outside.
Global Community Day
On November 18, the Global Community Day was celebrated in the school. The event was sponsored by Citifinance. Lions Club Treasurer Mr. Rajendiran gave the presiding speech and Dental Doctor Dr. Jayaprakash conducted the Dental Medical Camp for students. A speech of gratitude was given by the Citifinance Manager Mr. Vinodh Kumar.
